National Sales Manager-Foodservice Distribution

Are you an experienced sales professional with an expertise in Broadline Foodservice Distribution? If so, this may be an opportunity for you to advance your career with a leader in the Paper and Disposable-Food Packaging Industry. Our client is searching for a National Sales Manager in a critical roll that encompasses growing business with Key Foodservice Distribution channels, as well as, with targeted customers and markets within the U.S. This position is remote but preferably located in the Midwest or Eastern United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and recommend sales programs and set short and long-term sales strategies
  • Collect relevant competitors’ market information to increase sales volume and market share
  • Recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential
  • Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
  • Develop talented and professional sales personnel that support the various channels, customers or markets
  • Responsible for building business for Broadliner Foodservice Distributors
  • Establish sales objectives to achieve year over year growth by projecting expected sales volume and forecasting and developing sales quotas for territories and the region
  • Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of the company’s relationship with them
  • Develop field sales action plans to facilitate the implementation of the regional sales programs
  • Suggest new products and innovative sales techniques to increase customer satisfaction and achieve sales objectives
  • Build and use database and analytical tools to report on sales and identify opportunities for improvement
    Identify hiring needs, select, train and fully engage new salespeople
  • Participate in decisions for expansion or acquisition
  • Analyze market conditions, including changes in business and economy throughout the industry that could affect sales
  • Identify financial and marketing strengths and weakness of customers, prospects and competitors, through the use of internal and external sources

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Sales Manager including experience managing Broadliner Food Distributors
  • Previous experience working with broadliners, brokers, etc. Required
  • Experience in the Paper and Disposables-Food Packaging Industry a plus
  • Strong sales personality with seasoned and savvy negotiating and relationship building skills
  • Ability to measure and analyze key performance indicators (ROI and KPIs)
  • Ability to hire, train, lead and motivate a high-performing sales team
  • Exceptional communication and interaction skills with a strategic/commercial mindset
  • Highly self-motivated with significant capacity to “do what it takes” (at both the strategic & tactical level) to get the job done
  • As a senior leader, effectively collaborate with other members of the sales team, as well as, their multi-functional counterparts
  • Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Availability to travel-meet face to face with customers (Post Covid)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales or relevant field
  • This position requires the employee to sign a Confidentiality and Non-Competition Agreement
  • Position is remote preferably in the Midwest or Eastern U.S.
