Business Development Manager-CPG/Dairy

Our client, a leading producer, distributor, and exporter of specialty dairy products, is seeking a dynamic individual to join their team as Business Development Manager in the CPG space.  This position is located at company headquarters, in the Greater New Haven, CT area. 

The Business Development Manager will work closely with all departments including Marketing, National Account Managers, CPG Sales Management, and Sales Finance in developing and streamlining S&OP process and Communication strategies/tactics that deliver on Distribution, Shelving, Pricing, and Promotion goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Role ensures that annual sales and profit goals are achieved
  • Responsible for the evaluation and assessment of trade spending within the marketing channels, sales team, and account level
  • Assist and support the implementation and assessment of Trade Marketing expenditures and communications
  • Develop trade strategy by channel supporting Marketing’s brand plan and utilizing trade marketing systems to evaluate sales plans
  • Manage the S&OP Process, managing the process, tools, and projects
  • Responsible for new item launches, new item tracking (KPI’s), limited offerings and PL Programs
  • Responsible for field sell-in KPI attainment and integration with Marketing and Supply organizations to ensure successful launch and achievement of distribution goals for new items
  • Work with sales team to complete promotional objectives with marketing  (POS, Coupon Development, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain consumption data vendor contract, sales studies, and monthly reporting to stakeholders

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5+ years in CPG/Retail food sales
  • Education: MBA preferred, Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Sales Management, or related field
  • 5+ years Trade Marketing or Category Management experience, working knowledge of Trade Practices in Deli
  • Must have a thorough understanding of and experience in the Food Industry
  • Experience in the Cheese Industry a plus
  • Budget conscious and able to manage people and time
  • Ability to galvanize the Sales and Marketing team to direct their efforts toward maximizing company profits, attain goals, and long term growth of the company
  • Strong organizational and time management skills a must
  • Exceptional communication and people skills required
  • Solid understanding of business financials and analytical skills are required
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Business software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Nielsen Data and its application
  • This position is Hybrid although, candidate should except to spend significant time present at company headquarters
