Are you looking for your next opportunity where people, values, and culture are important? Is your expertise in the area of perishable foods operations?  Our client, a leader in the Fresh Produce Industry is seeking a Director of Operations in the Greater Seattle, WA area.
The Director of Operations is responsible for directing all activities in the facility necessary to operate and support a warehouse at maximum efficiency. Responsibilities also include a variety of management and administrative functions to ensure the timely and accurate loading, unloading, and storage of all product that moves through the warehouse. This position is a member of the core leadership team for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish consistent procedures to ensure a well-run facility by establishing warehouse guidelines, systems, and policies, as well as, coaching the team on the most effective ways to streamline workflow and improve productivity
  • Maintain KPI’s, reports, and documentation to analyze data, implement improvements, and assess performance
  • Develop metrics related to picking and receiving accuracy, inventory management, quality control and productivity, and measure results against specified key operating targets
  • Continually review processes, procedures, and infrastructure and make adjustments to improve profitability
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with customer and business needs
  • Ensure inventory moves quickly and efficiently to avoid and minimize loss
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly reporting as required to support business
  • Support and effectively communicate company vision, goals, and strategies as appropriate to the Operations Team, mentoring employees to encourage growth within current and future roles
  • Hold regularly scheduled weekly meetings with Operations team members with the goal of consistent improvement in productivity and service to customers
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, food safety and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be a self-motivated professional with extensive knowledge and experience in the perishable and refrigerated/frozen food sector and Warehouse Operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management preferred
  • 8+ years professional experience within a successful mid-to-large organization, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Logistics background and experience required
  • Superior analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices, cost analysis, trend analysis and statistical data
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, collaboration, and leadership background
  • Problem Solving-Demonstrated skill identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner: gathering and analyzing information skillfully
  • Planning/Organizing-Exceptional ability to prioritize and plan work activities: ability to use time efficiently: plan for additional resources: set goals and objectives: and develops realistic action plans
  • Familiarity and experience with a wide range of highly perishable products- (produce, seafood, meat, dairy, etc.)
  • Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, with emphasis in Excel
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ lbs. on occasion
  • Position is located onsite in the Greater Seattle, WA area
